Back once again, it's issue #02
of Melbourne Pixel. After such
a great launch issue, we are jumping
to bring you bigger and better
in this second attempt to broaden
your creative horizons. We broke
into your creative world, now
we want to set up a permenant
residence. For those of you who
missed us first time around (where
have you been?), we'll reiterate
our introduction:
Bored with pretentious,
money-driven creative journals
and magazines? We would like to
present to you a consistent representation
of REAL Australian artists, photographers,
designers, illustrators, and creative
people in general.
There are some seriously brilliant people in this issue,
and we hope you enjoy reading about them and their
worlds as much as we enjoyed delving into them!

ARTICLES
The Fine Line Originally from Malaysia, but now
a resident and student in Melbourne, Derek Mui uses his unique
and clean approach to vector illustration to really bring about
the subject and emotion in his work. His fastidious attention
to detail, combined with a good understanding of colour usage,
lends his work a professional quality that takes some people
years to develop.
We caught up with Derek to chat about his
life and his work, and to try and get a little bit of
insight into his World.
Under Your Skin Chris is a qualified medical imaging
technologist from Adelaide. Yep, that's right! Bet you
didn't see that one coming! But when Chris isn't busy taking
photos of your insides, he's out and about snapping shots
that just drip of proffesionalism.
From Asia to the Adelaide V8 races, Chris covers a wide
range of subjects with a talent that makes him stand out
from the crowd of happy-snappers that pose as photographers
these days.
Always A Party Just coming off a massive Australian
tour to promote their new album, 'Day of the Dog', we caught
up with Eso from Bliss n Eso for a chat about the Australian
Hip Hop scene.
Hailing from Sydney, Bliss n Eso, with their notorious DJ
Izm, have blown their listeners away with their new album,
making a great debut on the Aria Charts, and finding more
airtime on commercial radio than they know what to do with.
We were lucky enough to get in behind the scenes and find
out just what it takes to get this much attention from the
Australian music industry, and see how it all happens.
Working With Twenty Four Inches
Born and bred in Sydney, Nathan Cooper exists in a world of his own creation.
Knowing his creative roots from an early age, Nathan's work demands your attention,
especially when you are considering his illustrations.
With a definate skew towards 'funky' vectors, but combined with an adept hand
in design and photography, we came across Nathan and just knew he had to be in
the next issue.
Providing an insight into his creative world, Nathan kindly spared some time
for us to hit him up with some questions.
Are you a creative Australian
who feels that your work just doesn't get exposure? Feel
like it's money, not talent, that's keeping you from a
feature article? Well, welcome home!
That's right, we are currently looking for talented Australians
to be a part of the Melbourne Pixel expansion. We don't
care if you freelance, have no money, only work at night,
or only work in a yellow sequined g-string. If you have
what it takes, then we'll back you the whole way!
If you fit
any of the above criteria, and want to contribute to Melbourne
Pixel, just swing us an email at: mpx@melbournepixel.com.
LATER...
Check it out! That's the end of Issue #02! Yep, it's
been a hell of a ride, and a hell of month. So much happens
in between issues that it's almost enough to swiss-cheese
your brain!
We're cracking away at Issue #03, bringing you bigger
and better each issue as these Prelaunch editions grow
in number. Expect some great creative minds in the next
issue, as well as some upgrades to the site.
Also of note, we have changed our hosting of to the great
people at Media
Temple, who provide you with the speedy
page loading you now see. Because of this transition,
we hope you can be patient with link errors, such as
the forum, until we get settled into our new home.
Peace out!
