Lounging About
Whilst she may not like you bumping into her in a crowd, Kate McInnes (aka Lounge Kat) certainly won't let it get to her as she uses her stunning vector lines to carve a niche in the world of illustration. Her bright, colourful, and superbly drawn work leaps from the page (or screen, as the case may be...) and captures your attention immediately. Her unique style is infectious and her subjects sensual, you just want to see more more more!

Whilst busy with an exhibition, we stole some of Kat's time to talk about her work, her life, and using illustration to help the homeless.

Nature of the Beast
Will likes nature. So he takes photos of it. Can it be that simple? Browsing through Will's work, evidently not. Although he is still studying Communication Design, Will has a photography collection to make even the most professional photographer a little jealous. Showing a perfect eye for dimension, scene and framing, Will comes to the fore with shots that would make National Geographic stand up and look.

We grabbed a bit of Will's time and some shots from his collection to bring you in contact with this talented individual.

The World is Massive
I'm not sure how we came across this book. It was a random thing, but one we are constantly grateful for. For those of you who like to keep a good collection of books, you'll agree that it's a wonderful feeling to find a refreshing and thought-provoking example amongst the mass of literature that stocks the shelves. Massive Change by Bruce Mau is that book.

If you live and breathe on this world, you need to read this book. And our brand new contributor will tell you why.

Low-Fat is Better For You
Kim Lerchbacher, aka Skim Milk, is something else. And we mean that in the best possible way. Her work caught our eye months ago, and we just couldn't stop looking. Be careful to pay attention to her words, as her work just draws the eye away from anything around it. Her use of colour, highlights, and an outstanding talent for picking superb shape and form hit you first, and then to see she can pull it off with only a simple pen...well, what can we say. Jealous!

We grabbed some of Kim's day to see just how she does it!

Lost in the Creative Mind

From up north in sunny Brisbane, Drew Flaherty and his exceptional work caught our attention and immediately entered the coveted realm of 'Inspirational Links' in our collection of bookmarks. Drew's work ranges from identity, to print, to web and even a little video and sound as well, and in all of them his clean style, great use of colour, and exceptional use of space reflects just why he's been so sort after.

Although he might be trying to escape to NYC, we grabbed a little of Drew's time to see just what brought him into such high demand.

We Want You!

Are you a creative Australian who feels that your work just doesn't get exposure? Feel like it's money, not talent, that's keeping you from a feature article? Well, welcome home!

That's right, we are currently looking for talented Australians to be a part of the Melbourne Pixel expansion. We don't care if you freelance, have no money, only work at night, or only work in a yellow sequined g-string. If you have what it takes, then we'll back you the whole way!

We are currently looking for:

• Photographers
• Writers
• Designers
• Artists
• Affiliate communities / groups / companies

If you fit any of the above criteria, and want to contribute to Melbourne Pixel, just swing us an email at: mpx@melbournepixel.com.

OUT AND ABOUT

We like to get outside every few months, and remind ourselves just what fresh air is all about. But where to go?

Onyx Lounge Bar
72 Outram Street
Perth, WA 6005
Ph: +61 8 9321 8661

www.onyxbar.com.au

Whilst not the somewhere you would drop in for a quick drink, if you find yourself on the streets of West Perth after having a few and need to raise the the style of the night, Onyx Bar is a great place to park your rump for a few hours.

A lot of the crowd might seem to be surgically attached to Armani suits, but this is the type of place where it is common to run into some famous faces, glance at models, and generally enjoy some smooth cocktails and shots in your Friday best.

Plus, the choice of beer is excellent, and the decor is reminiscent of the Playboy Mansion, so hey, it can't be all bad right!

Check it out, if your passing by, and we guarantee you will add it to your mental list for future forays, or as a good place to impress on a first date.
