Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m actually a 3rd year communication design student at Swinburne
University, Melbourne. I love nature and love animal since I was
young. I love travelling around when I got time, especially in school
holiday.

How and when did you discover your love for photography?
Since I got my photography subject at school and since I got my
DSLR last year.
I kept practicing how to use the camera and found it quite challenging.
Especially when you learn how to shoot different style of photography.
Was
there a defining moment when you decided that ‘nature’ was
your favourite subject matter?
I can’t remember exactly when I decided that nature is my
favourite subject matter, Like I said above I’ve been in
love with nature since I was a kid.
How much of your talent lies
with intuition as opposed to training?
I would say that I haven’t really got decent photography
training. Most of my photography knowledge are acquired through
just by going out and do more experiment with my camera. They didn’t
teach you much in school due to the limitation. It’s only
1-2 hours per week in class. But I have learnt some studio photography
technique in school.

Which subjects inspire you the most?
I love every subject that is related with nature and also everything
related with humanity.
What is your favourite time of day to
work?
For photo editing or everything related with computer, I love doing
it at night , but in taking photo, I love to go out in the very
early morning when the weather is permitting.
What
cameras do you use to produce your work?
I use Nikon D70 with some lens to produce my work. I think the
most important thing in doing photography is not only the cameras
but the lens you used also holds a very important role.
Changing
and testing lens is one of my favourite things in photography.
I feel that it’s very challenging to learn and to use new
and different lenses.
Do you have a favourite? Why?
One of my favourite is “the zebras” which I think
is unique as we can see the two zebras look like the reflection
of one zebra. I also the way it looks like a pattern to me.
What’s
your opinion on film vs. digital?
It think it doesn’t matter what kind of camera you use
either film or digital can get you a good photograph. Both of
the cameras got their own benefits, in digital, you can get a
correct exposure easier rather than film but you have to sacrifice
the quality a bit with digital.

How would you describe
your style?
I don’t think I have any specific style in my photography.
I’m just adopting others style and mixing it together which
I described it as freestyle.
What is the most important element
to capture in your photography?
I think the most important element to capture in my photography
is the sharpness and the detail of the subject.

do you admire?
Some of the photographer names that I could remember are probably Tom Nagy, and
Lee Frost.
What inspires the subject and theme of your photography?
The love of nature and animals since I was young has inspired the subjects and
theme of my photography.
Where do you live and work?
I live in one of the busiest area in Melbourne city J. I’m currently jobless
and more concentrating to school and hoping to graduate as early as possible.
In what way do your surroundings influence your work?
All people live in my apartment has the same hobbies like me which is photography,
we always share our opinion and we often learn it together, in that way we can
improve our work.

What interests do you have outside of photography?
I have too many interests outside of photography such as design, art, travelling,
games, computers, cars, etc.
What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do?
The most frustrating?
When someone really love my work and giving you extra support and the most frustrating
things is when everything doesn’t come out as good as you’ve expected.
What would be your favourite subject/s to photograph?
I love taking photos of children, animals and birds. Children and babies, I love
them because of the cuteness. Birds and animals, because it has a lot of challenge
to shoot a bird, once you’re too slow they might be flying/running away
and It also needs a lot of patience.
Do you have any new projects coming up that you
can tell us about?
Actually there’s no specific project I would do in this short period but
I was thinking to go out somewhere around Victoria when I got time.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I’d like to be recognised for my works and I’ve always wanted to
have my own decent studio where I can work on my design projects and also my
photography projects.

Any advice for budding photographers out there?
Practice and know your camera as much as you can. Reading photography magazines
will also help you to improve your photographs.
