ISSUE #09

Welcome one and all to Issue #09 of Melbourne Pixel. Things have been heating up down here at Pixel HQ (literally...), with this hot-as-hell weather keeping us indoors unless an abundence of cool, alcholic beverages presents itself as an option any time after 5. But moving back to the original, non-weather related point, we have been busier than ever before!

Of course, we are hitting you up with the usual assortment of articles, creative Australians, hot websites, resources, and our usual visual delight from Blue Giant, but we have also been hard at work on the new site layout and a bunch of spanking new features that wil get you drooling on your keyboard (we recommend Viva brand paper towl, and don't say we didn't warn you...).

But before you see some changes, we are proud to present to you Issue #09 in all its glory. Enjoy!

Reign of the Raw Idea
Born in Yorkshire (UK) and currently in Australia, Dyzla is one of the most outstanding urban artists we have ever come across. His unique style and stunning use of colour and form leads to the creation of beautiful eye-catching pieces that can be found anywhere from canvas to walls, floors to vinyl toys.

We caught up with Dyzla to find out a bit more about the man behind the art, and to discover just how he does what he does.

Interview - Dyzla

A Darker Tone
Ellen Duffy is one of the new generation of up-and-coming photographers who, rather than being motivated by the lure of a quick buck for pointing and shooting, has a real passion for the craft. The problem is that a true passion for anything doesn’t allow anything except the best, and Ellen is her own conscience when it comes to producing high quality work...

Simon Smithson (of The Double Agent fame) grabbed Ellen for some Q&A to find out more about her style and the person behind the lens.

Don't Think It, Do It
24 year old Sydney resident Jeremy Somers is one of the few creatives whose work left us speechless from the start. Excelling in multiple fields including design, illustration and web design, Jeremy has a unique and expressive style that's at once familiar and comforting in it's creativeness, yet bold and impossible to squeeze into the confining label of a genre.

We grabbed Jeremy for a few minutes to find out more about just who he is, and to get a better grasp on his personal views and what goes into his work.

Interview - Jeremy Somers

To Change the World
With the esteemed title of 'First Comedian on Melbourne Pixel' up for grabs, what better choice than ex-pat Georgia Van Cuylenburg? We couldn't come up with an answer to that question, so here she is! Georgia moved to LA to follow her career as a stand up comedian, and is building herself into one of this countries greatest exports...and one of our funniest too!

Simon Smithson caught her when she wasn't on stage to chat about her move, and find out what's going on all the way over there in the land of 'high fructose syrup'.

Interview - Georgia Van Cuylenburg

Changing Your Sense of Self

Love Me & Leave Me is the youTUBE of the fashion world as far as we are concerned. Our sense of fashion is not what you would call a bullseye, but the basis behind LMALM is unique and brilliant, and so far the people we've explained it to get excited and start leaping for their browser window. We can just imagine what this innovative website could mean for the more fashion consciece of you out there.

As we have said, we are not exactly savvy when it comes to fashion (my clothes are only 'vintage' because they're old...) which is why we are proud to welcome Nadia Saccardo to the fore, and she sat down with Simonne @ LMALM to chat about her inventive creation.

Interview - Simonne @ LMALM
